The General Data Protection Regulation comes into force across the EU on  25 May 2018. This regulation will replace our existing data protection legislation and while the majority of the elements in the original 1988 and 2003 Acts are contained within the GDPR, the new legislation enhances and expands many aspects. The GDPR emphasises transparency, security and accountability by data controllers (i.e. hospitals) while at the same time standardising and strengthening the right of European citizens to data privacy.

To help in working through the elements around GDPR, a workshop on the implementation of GDPR for the Ireland East Hospital Group (IEHG) has been organised.

The workshop will take place on Monday 30 April 2018 in Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital from 10.30 to 15.15.

This workshop is open to all relevant staff in IEHG hospitals but is particularly aimed at service managers / clinical leads across the service. If you would like to attend, please e-mail cio@iehg.ie with the subject line “GDPR Workshop” and include the name(s) of attendees.

As numbers are limited, please book early. If you indicate that you would like to attend, and subsequently discover that you are not able to do so, please let us know such that we can offer the place to someone else.
